David L. Wood has consulted with many land management agencies and private land-owners with regard to insect-caused injuries to trees in both urban and wild-land forests and the interface between these forest types. These consultations have been an extension of his classroom teaching in forest entomology and forest pest management at the University of California at Berkeley over the past five decades. The biology and injuries caused by these pests are described in his recent handbook published by the UC Press entitled, “Pests of the California Conifers”. In addition, Dr. Wood has provided experience, consultations, and teaching in many arenas pertaining to issues of insect damage to wood products.
